I don't like Elphaba. If the purpose of this book is to entice sympathy for the Wicked Witch of the West, then it failed for me even if she's not wicked at all. The way she went on and on about her green skin and cruelty to Animal just annoys me. The beginning was good enough, how her family responded to her birth was interesting, her friendship with various people in university and her romance afterward was enjoyable to read. And then she took the main stage and the story went boring to the end. I can only conclude that all other characters, even Nanny, are more interesting than her and made the book enjoyable, eventhough Elphaba is the main character. Such a sory state in a book dedicated to her.
