Books etc.

pretty much all kind of books, stories, whatever

My 100th book this year is Madame Bovary :)

Madame Bovary - Michèle Roberts, Geoffrey Wall, Gustave Flaubert

My old rating was 2 stars, now I'm not how many I'd give. I like Flaubert's writing and Julian Barnes' Flaubert's Parrot that I read right before it helped giving me some background & trivias. Those are fun to find in the book.

I found the plot itself rather awkward in some places. How Charles' 1st wife died was just too convenient. Even the end w/ Charles' death was too lyrical? stylistic?

I rather like the part where Rodolpho conquered Emma. Well, maybe not like but it's rather educational, isn't it? I'd appreciate reading it when I was more unsuspecting girl. Eye opener, disillusioner and such stuff.

the only thing is I'm not sure I like Emma, Charles, Leon & other characters.
